Richard Digance

 Richard Digance

Richard Digance remains one of Britain's top entertainers, a fact confirmed by his sell-out British tours.

Richard’s latest venture, in partnership with Dave Lee is “The Olympic Dinner”  a 60-minute after-dinner entertainment to celebrate the 2012 Olympic Games.  Described as an event of Pure Gold, athlete and food lover Dave explains how the pole vault is a casserole dip-stick and the modern pentathlon is five different ways of dying, while east ender Richard offers new cockney rhyming slang and an insight into the waste land that has become the Olympic venue.

Richard was presented with the Gold Badge Award from the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters, in recognition of 30 years service to the music industry along with Sir Cliff Richard and Midge Ure.

In a Sunday People poll Richard was voted one of the Magnificent Seven of British Entertainment

As a writer and recording artist, Richard has made twenty-one albums, written seven books and scripted his own television specials for ITV over a period of 11 years.

He has worked with film legend Steve Martin in America, has performed at the London Palladium with Robin Williams received a BAFTA Nomination in 1986 for British TV Entertainer of the Year and won the first ever Sony Radio Award for his musical contribution to a radio documentary 'Dying For A Drink'.

His debut Thames Television special in the early 1980's led to his first TV series before he joined London Weekend Television. His one-hour television specials featured cameos in which Richard played guitar with some of the world's greatest musicians; Brian May of Queen, The Moody Blues, Status Quo, Chris de Burgh, Marc Cohn the composer and performer of 'Walking In Memphis', Buffy St. Marie composer of 'Soldier Blue' and not forgetting Elkie Brooks with whom he toured for over four years.

Richard recorded fourteen radio series for the BBC, beginning with 'Braden's World' which later became 'Stop The World' before moving to Capital Radio as a music presenter, and then as a late night DJ. At this time, Richard qualified as a radio producer in his own right, but he eventually decided to return to the stage to support Eric Clapton at the Victoria Theatre, London, where he met Jim Davidson. They joined forces and Richard, returning to the stage, supported Jim exclusively for nearly five years including trips to The Falkland Islands, Beirut, Germany, including the infamous Christmas Eve TV special from The Berlin Wall.

Richard has written and directed two plays, 'Sex, Spangles and Sensible Shoes'  and 'Fear of Frying.'
