Babita Sharma

Babita Sharma is a presenter for BBC World News.
She joined BBC World News - the BBC's International news channel - as a freelance presenter in 2008 and was appointed to her new role as the anchor for Newsday, a daily news programme that comes live from Singapore and London, in February 2011.
Babita grew up in Berkshire and studied journalism, film & broadcasting at the University of Wales, Cardiff. Her first break into television in the UK came when she joined Thames Valley Television and she got her first taste of radio broadcasting in the studios of BBC Radio Wales. She moved to Dubai where she spent three years working as a radio and TV presenter for the network broadcaster Channel 4.
But national news was beckoning Babita and for her next step on the career ladder she joined the ranks of the early risers, presenting ITV1's early morning news. She then returned to BBC News in 2005 where she was a TV producer for the BBC News Channel.
She was involved with the launch of the weekly programme 'Your Money' and became a regular presenter for their business bulletins.
As a news presenter she has been at the forefront of many major breaking news stories including the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, the Northern Rock banking crisis, the 2010 UK general election and the Japanese earthquake & tsunami, the Arab Uprisings and the death of Osama bin Laden.
