Jimmy Carr

Jimmy has been a fixture on our screens, and the UK comedy scene for the best part of a decade.
In addition to his regular TV appearances and constant touring, Jimmy’s first six live DVDs (Live, Stand Up, Comedian, In Concert, Telling Jokes and Making People Laugh) have now sold over 1.2 million copies to date, while 2011's Being Funny was a best seller.
Jimmy's Laughter Therapy show debuted at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh. Starting just a few days after the close of the marathon Rapier Wit tour, during which Jimmy played to over 300,000 people, yet by the time it finished in November 2011 in South Africa with three huge arena shows, the tour had been seen by even more people. Living up to his sobriquet ‘the hardest working man in comedy’, Jimmy has so far performed live to well over 1.2 million people in the UK with the 2012/2013 tour, Gagging Order already booked for 300 shows.
On TV, he has just finished filming the twelfth series of 8 Out of 10 Cats, the comedy panel show based on polls, surveys and statistics for Channel 4, while 10 O'Clock Live, jointly hosted with David Mitchell, Charlie Brooker and Lauren Laverne first aired in 2011 and provided a brand new weekly series taking a fresh and funny look at the news and current events. A second series has already been commissioned for 2012. Other recent television appearances include The Graham Norton Show, Have I Got News for You, Would I Lie to You? and QI.
While a household name in the UK, his profile in the USA continues to grow. Jimmy recently performed a second Comedy Central Special and also appeared on NBC’s Late Night with Conan O’Brien – his fifth appearance to date. Jimmy’s game show Distraction aired on Comedy Central and was subsequently repeated. He has also appeared four times on NBC’s flagship programme The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Across the border in Canada Jimmy also performed at the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival for the seventh time in July 2011.
Jimmy is also a pioneer of digital comedy, topping the album charts on iTunes and with a Twitter following of over 1.5 million. He was the first major comedian to perform within the online world of Second Life, footage of which was included on his Comedian DVD. In 2009, Jimmy recorded a series of podcasts, entitled The Writers’ Room, in which he and his favourite writer friends chat about the latest news and events, exchanging anecdotes and quips, offering an insight into how comedy material can develop within a writing environment. The podcast proved a smash hit, shooting straight to the top of the iTunes download chart. In November 2011 Jimmy and fellow comedian Frankie Boyle were recorded in conversation at the flagship Apple Store on Regent Street, with the discussion being released as a podcast via iTunes.
In the corporate market, Jimmy is popular either as an after dinner speaker or awards host. Clients are drawn from all sectors and have included Tesco, Abbey (now Santander) and numerous publishing companies to name but a few.
