Ross Burden
Once described as “The tastiest man in Britain”, Ross Burden has been a feature on British screens for eight years. The model turned presenter has hosted and guested on many shows here, in NZ, USA, South Africa and across Asia. Whether filming the birth of Right whales in South Africa or sky diving over the Nevada desert, he attacks each assignment with gusto. Best known for being adept in the kitchen on shows such as Masterchef and Ready, Steady Cook; Ross is a trained naturalist and keen traveller. A degree in Zoology and an upbringing on the New Zealand coast have equipped him to explore the natural world for National Geographic and NoW. Projects as diverse as wolves, dolphins and extreme ballooning have attracted his talents; while penguins remain his firm favourite.
Travel to the Galapagos Islands, Yemen and Lebanon follow an epic drive from Kathmandu to Istanbul; which delivered him to London. Locations for professional shoots have ranged from Thailand, Mexico and the Dominican Republic for Natural history, travel and food shows.
Food has been a constant interest for Ross who filmed a healthy eating video with Joan Collins and has made five series for Taste in studios and on location; the next being “La vie en Ross” in France in September. Having once owned a catering company, Ross has consulted for a supermarket, a railway and several food and wine products. A second book is underway and Ross continues to write columns for two magazines; following a two year stint writing for the Sun. An hour long special on British food for the American Food Network has been well received over the pond.
Ross is a co-Patron of Against Breast Cancer and supports Children’s Wish Organisation and the WWF; for whom he launched the ORCA campaign. He also works for the Countryside Alliance and the Food Labelling Action Group in a fundraising and publicity capacity.
In his spare time Ross loves to travel, with Asia as a favourite destination. An avowed outdoorsman, he enjoys diving and shooting and is learning to ride. When indoors, he loves Opera and is learning French. He has passable Italian and Maori. History fascinates him; with a capacious memory he often infuriates friends with accuracy of dates and minutiae! Ross’ life is not a trivial pursuit however but his drive and professionalism comes polished with a ready smile and joke.
