Peter Dobbie is a News Presenter on BBC World, the BBC's international news channel which has a reach of 280 million people. Peter fronts the news at different times of the day on BBC World, but generally can be seen during the day, London time, between 0800 BST and 1800 BST. He also presents Have Your Say, which is broadcast live, at the same time, on 3 different platforms: BBC World, BBC World Service Radio and on BBC News Online. The programme is interactive: using live phone calls and real-time e-mails from viewers and listeners, together with a high profile weekly guest.
Until March 2006 Peter worked on BBC News 24, BBC World's sister channel - anchoring the channel's late evening output between 2300 and 0100, together with all of News 24's "strands" across the output.
Peter has been a full time Presenter for almost 15 years now and has worked with many different BBC programmes, presenting or reporting for Breakfast Time and then Breakfast on BBC One, Saturday Breakfast, From Our Own Correspondent on Radio 4 and World Service Radio, BBC Radio 5 Live, PM on BBC Radio 4 and the One O'clock News on BBC One. He's also written for the BBC's award winning web site BBC News Online.
His work for BBC News has led Peter to many parts of the world, both presenting and reporting from France, Germany, Latvia, Portugal, Finland and Italy. Following the Asian Tsunami in December 2004, he presented and reported live for many hours from Galle in southern Sri Lanka. He also presented coverage of the launch of the new Airbus A380, the super jumbo, from Toulouse in France for BBC News 24, BBC World, World Business Report, Breakfast and BBC Three, fronting "co-pres" programmes: when the BBC brings together it's two news channels, BBC World and News 24.
Peter has also spent time in southern Iraq because of the ongoing conflict there. He's worked in Basra, Safwan, the RAF's base at Ali al-Salem, and also in Kuwait - reporting live from all these locations for BBC News Specials on BBC One, BBC Two, BBC News 24, BBC World, and BBC Three.
In his spare time Peter is an avid snow-boarder and also a qualified CASI instructor. He also loves triathlons (Olympic & half Ironman distances) during the summer months, and this year has competed at Windsor, Milton Keynes, Eton and Los Angeles. In 2006 Peter was also a member of Team GB for the European Triathlon Championships in Autun in France, and last year he successfully finished Ironman Germany in Frankfurt, after two finishes at Half Ironman distance here in the UK.
