Donna McPhail, once described as ‘British Comedy’s Top Bird’ has amassed numerous television, radio and writing credits since she has been performing on the comedy circuit.Donna’s television credits include: Liquid News 24 for (BBC Choice), Have I Got News For You (BBC), Stand Up (Granada), Without Walls (Ch4), Edinburgh Nights (BBC), Reportage (BBC), Just For Laughs (Ch4 and CBC - Canada), The Stand Up Show (BBC), Never Mind The Buzzcocks (BBC).
Donna’s contributions in Radio as a writer and performer include: Donna is a regular
contributor to the The Fi Glover Show on Radio Five Live, Loose Ends (R4), After
Hours (R5), Women’s Hour (R4), and she co-wrote and presented two series of
‘Windbags’ with Jo Brand for (R1). Donna has also been writing a column for the Pink Paper.
Donna has received critical acclaim internationally for her performances in Australia at the Melbourne Comedy Festival and in Montreal at the Just For Laughs Festival.
She has regularly taken her own shows to The Edinburgh Festival Fringe, most
recently in 1997. In 1993 her show was nominated for the Perrier Award.
Donna returned to Australia in 1999 to perform her new show at The Sydney Comedy Festival and then returned to England to perform it as part of the Newcastle Comedy Festival.
Since 1995 Donna has co-hosted three series of The Sunday Show for BBC2. The
success of these shows led to a sell-out nationwide tour during the spring of 1996,
culminating in two sell-out performances at the Duke of York Theatre in the West End.
Donna has written regular columns for ‘Time Out’ and ‘The Independent’ and continues
honing her material and performance on the comedy circuit.
More recently, Donna has been adding her own unique blend of humour to such
programmes as Top Ten TV Lovers (Channel 4); Celebrity Hitch Up and Right Royal Frock Up (Channel 4); as well as guesting on Shoot The Messenger (Paramount
Comedy Channel) and Take The Mike (ITV). She contributed to an in depth study of
comedy in Funny Women for the Esther programme (BBC).
