Sir Stirling Moss
One of Britain’s most successful motor racing drivers. Sir Stirling competed in 494 races between 1947 and 1962, winning 222. His successes include the Italian Mille Miglia in 1955 (the only Englishman ever to win this event). He won the British Grand Prix in 1955 and 1957, and had 31 other Grand Prix victories. Stirling was voted Driver of the Year twice in 1954 and 1961.Stirling Moss has published numerous books including Stirling Moss’s Book of Motorsport (1955), A Turn of the Wheel (1961), How to watch Motor Racing (1975), Motor Racing and All That (1980), and My Cars, My Career (1987).
Stirling is a member of the British Racing Drivers’ Club, the British Racing and Sports Car Club, the Royal Automobile Club and is Chairman or President of 36 motoring clubs. His interests include water-skiing, theatre and designing.
