 Rachel Heyhoe FlintRachael Heyhoe Flint is best known as the champion of the cause of women’s cricket: she first played for England in 1960: captained the side from 1966-1977and ended her international career in 1983 after making a record 51 appearances for her country.

Rachael Heyhoe Flint has established herself as a media figure and businesswoman specialising in public relations, sports marketing and promotions; she is a former journalist and humorous public speaker. In 1973 she was named as Best After Dinner Speaker by the Guild of Professional Toastmasters.

Rachael Heyhoe Flint trained as a teacher of Physical Education; became a journalist in 1965 and within 4 years became Sports Editor of the Wolverhampton Chronicle. She became a freelance Sports Journalist for the Daily and Sunday Telegraph. In 1973, she was appointed TV’s first woman sports presenter/reporter with ITV’s World of Sport; she has also appeared in a variety of radio and TV quiz shows and panel games.

Rachael Heyhoe Flint was captain of England’s first woman’s team to play at Lord’s Cricket Ground in 1976; she has scored 30 centuries and her top score was 179 for England vs Australia at The Oval in 1976 – still a world record score for an English player in Test Matches in England.

In 1972, Rachael Heyhoe Flint was awarded her MBE for services to cricket – the first woman to gain the award for cricket deeds; she was Public Relations Officer of the Women’s Cricket Association for 7 years and Chairman for 2 years but resigned over a matter of principle in 1986.

Rachael Heyhoe Flint played hockey for England (1964) as goalkeeper and represented Staffordshire for a record 25 years; she has also played squash and golf for Stafforshire. Rachael Hey hoe Flint has written Fair Play, the story of Women’s Cricket, ‘Heyhoe’ her autobiography and two hockey instruction books.

Rachael Heyhoe Flint is now a Public Relations, Promotions and Sports Marketing Consultant operating from her own office in Wolverhampton. Currently she is PR & Promotions Executive for Hyatt La Manga Club Resort, Patshull Park Golf and Country Club and Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club; she is also on the Board of Family Assurance Friendly Society and the Council of Malvern College, Worcestershire. Rachael Heyhoe Flint also organises Golf Days for national charities and corporate clients.

In 1997, Rachael Heyhoe Flint was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of West Midlands; is a Vice-President of The Cricketers’ Club of London, a Member of the Advisory Panel of the Faldo Junior Series; and appointed a Main board Member at Wolverhampton Wanderers in September 1997. She is also one of the first Honorary Life Members of the MCC and of course is female!!

Rachael Heyhoe Flint lives in Tettenhall near Wolverhampton, she has three step-children and one son. She is a member of South Staffs Golf Club and an honorary member of La Manga Club and Patshull Park Hotel and Country Club.
