Chris Eubank

 Chris EubankChris was born on 8th August 1966 in Dulwich, London. He spent the first two years of his life in Jamaica. On his return, he lived in Stoke Newington, Dalston, Hackney and then moved to Peckham where he attended Bellingden Junior School and then attended Thomas Carlton Secondary School.

After being suspended 18 times in one year, and then being expelled, he then attended Peckham Manor School, from where he was suspended five times, and then expelled, although he was protecting other children from bullies, but was then put into care.

Chris was then placed in various institutions by the Social Services (The Hollies in Sidcup, Kent, for 1 month, Yastrid Hall in north Wales for 1 and a half years, Stanford House, in Shepherds Bush for 17 weeks (for assessment), Karib in Peckham, London, for 1 month and then finally, Davy’s Street School (care facility in Peckham for 1 month). He then lived on the streets for one and a half years.

Chris’ father then took him to New York at the age of sixteen where he lived for three and a half years, where he graduated from Morris High School. He took up boxing whilst at school in the U.S.A and won the Amateur Spanish Golden Glove Championship in New York in 1984. He turned professional in 1985 and during this time started to attend church

He came back to the UK in 1988 and was with Barry Hearn from his 13th fight to his 43rd fight, he won the World Middle weight Title Fight against Nigel Benn in November 1990. He had 43 straight wins before his first loss and to date, out of 52 World Championship fights he has only lost five. Chris holds the record for the most unbeaten World Title wins in British history, he has had 19 consecutive World Title wins and has become a household name. He supports numerous charitable organisations such as SPARKS, the Rockinghorse Appeal and is a Patron of “Breakthrough”, the Breast Cancer Charity.

Chris’ accolades include Best Dressed Man in 1991 and 1993 (given by the Menswear Association of Great Britain) and Tie Pin award at the beginning of 1998. He has also won the Best Dressed Sportsman Award twice (from the Express) in 1993 and 1995.

He has also spoken to numerous Universities, Secondary Schools and Infant Schools, such as Eton, Cambridge University (four times), Oxford University (twice), Trinity college in Dublin (twice), London School of Economics, London University and Sussex University.  He has also been a promoter – for the only two fights ever to be held in the Middle East: one in Egypt in 1996 and one in Dubai early in 1997.

Chris’ hobbies include speaking, teaching, philosophy, reading quotations, fashion, dancing, poetry, and fighting (mentally and physically) legally. He married Karron Suzanne on 23rd December 1990. They have four children Christopher (born on 18th September 1989), Sebastian (born on 18th July 1991), Emily (born on 19th April 1994) and Joseph (born on 23rd October. 1996).
