The Last Business Advantage in the Age of AI? Workplace Culture
While leaders plan for AI to level the playing field of productivity and efficiency, the real competitive advantage might lie somewhere else - with workplace culture. With Microsoft describing the future of work as having 'intelligence on tap' business is quickly going to find that it's not just the quality of their thinking that sets them apart - it's the human layer that lies on top of it. Bruce explains how we should think about culture, how we should build it and how to create culture that is genuinely differentiated.
Should we be optimistic about the future of work? With a lot of discussion about the robots taking over we might wonder if the outlook for humans is bleak. In this entertaining presentation Bruce gives reason to be cheerful - we might be heading to our best time ever.
Finding Fortitude - How to dial up team resilience in tough times
Wanting the people around us to be more resilient is natural ,whether our teammates, family or friends. But sometimes expecting individuals to be resilient is a hard challenge, we don't know what actions we're meant to take to unlock this inner strength. In this presentation drawing on lessons from his bestselling book, Fortitude, described by the Financial Times as 'the best business book of the year', Bruce unpacks resilience and explains how any of us can bounceback better
His writing to promote the US release of the book (titled Eat Sleep Work Repeat) was featured in Wall Street Journal, Washington Post and Harvard Business Review. The book was chosen as book of the quarter for Michael Hyatt’s esteemed Leader Books CEO subscription service.
In a prestigious survey of CEOs and MDs, Bruce was named the “Fantasy Hire” that most leaders would like to make – his fourth time of winning the accolade (other names placed included Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk and Martin Sorrell).
Bruce is a regular on Channel 4 News, BBC Radio 4 and BBC 5 Live. Bruce was one of the main contributors to BBC Radio 4's programme about the state of work at the end of 2025. Payslip Britain addressed the challenges of how we are working right now, and what we can do to fix it.
His podcast Eat Sleep Work Repeat is in the top 0.1% of podcasts globally, having been listened to over 6 million times. His newsletter, Make Work Better, reaches 150,000 workplace culture enthusiasts every week.
Bruce's prior business career saw him as a widely respected technology leader at businesses like YouTube, Google and Twitter. He is recognised for both having written Sunday Times bestselling books on culture, but also having walked the walk running successful businesses.
Bruce generally gets requests that fall into three content streams: This is how he describes them himself:-
The Joy of Work: How can teams (and leaders) get their mojo back and deal with the demands of modern work? My obsession with workplace culture has seen me appointed as a Visiting Honorary Professor at Bayes Business School at City University in London, and I regularly teach on the topic at London Business School. I’ve run a chart-topping podcast on these themes for six years and my book on this topic was the bestselling business book of the year.
Understanding Resilience - the Secrets of Inner Strength: My book on resilience, Fortitude, was recently described by the Financial Times as the 'best business book of the year'. I conducted a fireside chat on this topic at the world renowned RSA
Leadership in the Hybrid Era: The nature of management has transformed in the last three years, and is set for even greater challenges ahead. How should firms prepare leaders to inspire greatness from their teams.
