Jonty Fisher Trio

Jonty was born into a musical family. He moved to Ghana at the age of five where he was immersed in the rich local culture. His father was a pianist and his mother, a graduate of the Royal College of Music, sang with Ghanaian folk hero Koo Nimo and was also involved in many operatic productions.

After leaving school Jonty completed a music foundation and music performance course at Trent Park in north London where he was taught by Dudley Phillips and Lucy Hare and gained a first class BA Honours degree.  He attended master classes with Dave Holland, John Taylor and Stan Saltzman and also studied composition, harmony and musical form with the great pianist and composer Ronald Francis Littlefield.

Jonty began his career in 1988, performing at the Queen Elizabeth Hall as a finalist in the Barclays Youth Music Awards and has been a regular on the London music scene ever since.  Jonty has played at many of the UK's premier events and venues as well as making regular film, radio and television appearances. He has worked with musical artists including Jacqui Dankworth, Steve Sitwell (Robbie Williams), Alan Barns, Todd Gordon, Jim Watson (BBC big band, The Brand New Heavies), Mark Lockheart (Radiohead), Stan Saltzman, Don Rendell, Christian Garrick (Dolly Parton) and is a long standing member of The Kate Dimbleby Trio.
His latest musical venture 'Jonty Fisher's Flyright Trio' is very much in the style of Nat King Cole's original trio, which was meant to be a quartet but the drummer failed to turn up. The Flyright Trio of bass, piano and guitar, is an homage to this style; the ability to play more softly and the combination of two harmony instruments enable the creation of distinctive musical textures and possibilities. With unique arrangements, including three-part vocal harmonies, they take the audience on a trip down memory lane while at the same time giving classic songs a fresh treatment.  Flyright performs classic jazz standards from the Great American Songbook (with some originals thrown in for good measure) and combine virtuosity and swinging rhythm with infectious joie de vivre for a lively and fantastically enjoyable evening of entertainment.

Jonty has also composed music for the BBC's 'Real Lives' series and film soundtracks include The Real Bridget Jones (Film 4), Girl on a Cycle (Chocolate Films) and Vagabond Shoes (Ugly Duckling Films).

"Our event went very well thank you and both bands were excellent. The Jonty Fisher Trio set up on time and went about their business in a very professional manner and with the minimum of fuss. Katy Shotter's performance was brilliant and gave us a good hour with some of our guests even getting up for a dance or two! No complaints from us and wouldn't hesitate using them again in the future."  BIBA RSA Dinner - May 2015
"The client had nothing but fantastic comments for Jonty and his band! She loved them and they really suited her event."  The Jonty Fisher Trio entertained at a client evening for The Conference People - September 2011.

Jonty is our go to Jazz man – he can put together anything from small trios/quartets up to full scale bands. Music can be sultry background jazz for drinks receptions, more upbeat for walk ups or at the end of the evening, or even full on Hot Club de Paris Django Rheinhart style gypsy jazz.
