Lord Michael Dobbs is best known as the writer of House of Cards, the Netflix series that was originally adapted by the BBC. Michael was an advisor to numerous prime ministers including Margaret Thatcher, John Major and David Cameron and now sits in the Upper House.

He was Chief of Staff and later Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party. Was also Deputy Chairman of Saatchi & Saatchi.

Has been a BBC TV and radio presenter, a columnist for The Mail on Sunday and Daily Express, and news editor for The Boston Globe in the US during the Watergate scandal.

Awards include: Lifetime Achievement Award for Political Literature 2014; P T Barnum Award for Excellence in Entertainment 2014; Tufts University Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award 2014, Huw Wheldon Memorial Lecturer 2015.

Winner of Benjamin Franklin Award for best historical novel 2008; shortlisted for C4 Political Novel of the Year 2001, PaddyPower Political Novel of the Year 2013, 2014.
