Gerry Loughney dedicated his working life to the loss adjusting profession with 40 years in the industry. He started out as a trainee adjuster at Ellis and Buckle in 1970 - having joined from insurer General Accident - becoming a branch manager in Swansea in 1973. In the same year he completed his Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters exams and was an institute prize winner.
Five years later he became an associate director - also completing his FCILA that year. In 1983 he was moved to Ellis and Buckle's head office in London and five years on was managing director, leading and inspiring his teams to meet constantly changing market and client needs. His initiatives ultimately changed the way the industry handled many claims.
In 1998 his business merged with Cunningham. He became CEO of Cunningham Lindsey and director of Cunningham Lindsey's global executive board, and then chairman of Cunningham Lindsey UK.
His business acumen also speaks for itself. Described as a deal maker, a non-traditional thinker, and as highly principled, his mix of strong leadership, strategic thinking and nerve, clearly served him well.
Gerry is now extremely well-known as a leading business guru. After a hugely distinguished career in financial services, has been speaking after dinner for many years. He shines a mischievous searchlight on the inanities and pure daftness of big business and the people who seem to make it tick.
He is a lifelong supporter of West Brom, Welsh rugby and other lost causes and is a very entertaining speaker, who always leaves people wanting more.
